A Note on Visuals and Creative Process

At Pictura Fragrans, each perfume begins not with materials, but with a written story—a narrative shaped by emotion, memory, and sometimes surreal or difficult truths. The scents are personal expressions, and the visual world surrounding them is part of that same effort to translate the intangible into something shareable.

The imagery on this site was developed by me, DL Jenkins, founder and sole perfumer of Pictura Fragrans. As an independent artist working without a large team or agency, I’ve turned to a variety of creative tools—among them, AI-assisted visual generation. These images are not meant to replace human artistry, but rather to act as early sketches: interpretive reflections of the stories that guide each fragrance.

AI in art and design is a topic of growing conversation. Rather than taking a position for or against its use, I’m interested in exploring where it fits—and how it might support new forms of expression for artists working at the edges of industry access. For many independent creators, it can serve as a provisional step: a way of visualizing complex ideas when time and resources are limited.

As Pictura Fragrans evolves, I look forward to working with more visual artists, designers, and other collaborators who resonate with the ethos of the brand. That next phase is coming. For now, these images are a reflection of where things began—honest, experimental, and made with care.

As Andy Warhol might’ve said today: "Machines can be beautiful too—especially when they help us tell human stories."
